Australia’s PSA testing guidelines have had their first major overhaul in a decade. The 2026 Guidelines for the Early Detection of Prostate Cancer in Australia were released on 6 August 2026 and endorsed by the RACGP on 10 August 2026, replacing the 2016 recommendations. PSA action levels are now banded by age and risk, digital rectal examination is out of the primary care pathway, and multiparametric MRI comes before biopsy.
